During the discovery process of the UK Grenfell Tower Inquiry, wholly unacceptable past actions were identified in the Kingspan Insulation UK business. Following this, we promptly made wide-ranging process changes across our entire global business to ensure that the highest standards are maintained. This included an extensive groupwide compliance program involving a commitment to achieve ISO 37301 certification across our major facilities.
ISO 37301 is the leading global standard for establishing, developing and monitoring compliance management systems (CMS). A CMS based on the requirements and guidance of ISO 37301 equips organizations with a set of tools (policies, processes, and controls) that allows them to establish and maintain a culture of compliance. It provides assurance that risks are regularly assessed, that the organization has a working system to raise concerns and that in case of non-conformities, the organization is improving their systems. The standard outlines significant and mandatory components of corporate compliance programs.
Two of our US plants (in Modesto, California and DeLand, Florida) were fully approved in 2021, making them Kingspan’s first US businesses to be certified to ISO 37301. As of September 2024, a total of 76 Kingspan plants across the globe have achieved this certification, including 13 in the US.
