The SMART labor union has attempted to devalue Kingspan’s sustainability credentials and question our long-standing industry leadership on environmental matters. Their effort is wildly misguided.
We are walking the talk
Our record on sustainability speaks for itself. We are two years into the implementation of our 10-year Planet Passionate sustainability program, details of which can be found here. The program sets 11 challenging targets to improve performance across carbon, energy and water use, and the circular economy. In 2022 we reduced our Greenhouse gas emissions by 26% from our base year of 2020 resulting in a reduction of 134,000 tons of CO2 equivalent.
The insulation systems Kingspan sold during 2022 are projected to save an estimated 173 million tons of CO2 equivalent during their lifetime.
Our sustainability leadership has been externally validated by Kingspan’s A/A-rating in the internationally renowned CDP ratings for the last 6 years. CDP is the charity that measures environmental impact of companies on behalf of 515 leading global investors representing US $106 trillion in assets.
